FAQ
Q: What styles do you play?
A: Most people know me as specializing in acoustic Brazilian guitar, but I also play Classical and Flamenco. Prior to focusing on those styles, I played Jazz guitar exclusively for 10 years, and before that cut my teeth in bands playing Rock, Blues, Funk, R&B, etc.
Q: Do you have examples of your playing?
A: In most cases, yes. Check out the Listen page. However, the website is constantly being updated, and in some cases I have not uploaded examples of certain styles that I do play. If you don't see or hear what you're looking for, please inquire and I can usually provide a CD or mp3.
Q: Do you do private events?
A: Yes. Please send me an email and I'd be happy to provide more info.
Q: Can you provide a P.A. and microphones for the event?
A: Yes, I have a modest size P.A., mixer, microphones, etc, although I do not rent out gear unless I am performing at the event. There is a nominal fee involved for me to bring the P.A.
Q: How far will you travel?
A: If the conditions are favorable, pretty far. I've played in L.A. many times, and generally will travel within 75 miles of the San Francisco Bay area without any surcharge.
Q: Do you work with vocalists/can you include a particular instrument in the band?
A: Absolutely. I've worked with many vocalists and instrumentalists of every kind. Please inquire and I'll do my best to accomodate your needs.
Q: Amplification is prohibited at our event. Can you provide an acoustic band?
A: Yes, we can play acoustically, but that generally precludes a drum kit and vocals. As such, we can play Jazz, Brazilian, and Flamenco/Nuevo Flamenco acoustically using instruments like horns (sax, trumpet, etc), guitars (but of course!), upright bass, hand percussion, etc.
Q: Can you play quietly, and/or as background music?
A: Definately. I have many years of experience playing in situations where volume can make or break the experience, so as long as we're clear on your needs up front, it won't be a problem.
Q: Can you provide a contract?
A: yes. Infact, I prefer to contract most events.
